As expected, the Bank of England yesterday lowered their benchmark rate by .25bps to 5.0%. The market seemed to have already had priced in the change as we saw very little movement when the announcement was made. We have no major news coming out today and will trade our GBP/USD strategy according to the standard rules and plan. Do keep in mind, the GBP/USD strategy has not had a losing day in over a month. Statistically it has a losing day 1.5 times per month and so the GBP/USD drawdown is looming. While we do not change our strategy in anticipation for a loss, it is good to be mentally ready for it to happen. Since changing our risk management plan, lowering the GBP/USD risk and adding the USD/JPY, we do not expect the loss to be anywhere near the 12-15% we had experienced during our previous drawdowns.
We will also trade our Intra-day Carry Trade pair strategy as usual. We expect limited movement in either the Pound or Dollar which typically means these two pairs will be driven more by the strength of the equity markets than any other influence. Lets hope for either a large loss or large gain in the world equity markets today to drive volatility.
