The day was as expected. Plenty of volatility in our currency pairs, no unexpected announcements, led to a good profit day. The GBP/USD strategy took a long entry almost immediately upon the open of the Frankfurt session. It took profit (approximately 1.8% gain) before the open of the European equity markets before the trend reversed. Analysts expect the dollar to increase in value from this point. We had been waiting for a GBP/USD top after three strong pound days and it looks as if we have found it.
Our intra-day carry trade pair strategy worked as planned. Into the open of London we received two short entry signals for both pairs. The GBP/JPY was quickly stopped out as the GBP/USD strength put a drag on Yen strength. However, the USD/JPY dropped quickly taking profit about an hour after our entry for a overall 1% net gain (1% GBP/JPY loss, 2.2% USD/JPY gain).
The system ended the day up about 3%.
